What does SMART Community Development do?
Our goal is to bring peope together to take action within our communities helping neighbors have a safe place to live. We use skilled contractors and generous donations from local supporters to develop our communities. Our focus is on safety, environmental, and home maintenance.
The home we live in should be a safe place for people to live and raise their children. Helping home owners take care of their homes or make modifications necessary due to health problems or sudden disabilities is important to us.

Property Clean Up
Creating safe places for children to play or removing debris to remove a safety issue for elderly or diabled person.
Basic Maintenance
Replacing a leaking sink or repairing a roof can prevent water damage to the home or environmental issues such as mold.
Accessibility Modifications
Building a ramp for access or installing a wider bathroom door can make a difference when using a wheelchair.

Who does SMART Community Development Help?
We wish we could help everyone, but until we have the resources to do so we are working with those in need of assitance. We focus on helping the elderly, single parents, persons with a disability or retirees with a limited income.
What services does SMART Community Development offer?
We focus on home modofications, improvements, and maintenance projects that ensure safety, acccessibility, and usability or the home. These projects range from clearing the property, accessibility modifications for disabled, maintenance improvement, and repairs to prevent conditions conducive to health concerns or deterioration of the home.
How can I get asistance?
Our process for finding projects begins with filling out an application. Please answer the questions to the best of your knowledge. After submitting the application, applications are reviewed and selected based on the type of services needed that we can provide. If your application is selected, a team member will contact you to arrange an onsite meeting to evaluate your home to better understand what your needs are and how we can assist you.
Working with Licensed Contractors for Safety.
We work with many licensed contractors to ensure the quality of the work being performed meets all current codes and building standards. We also use community members that volunteer their time to give back to thhe community and their neighbors through the SMART Community Development projects!
Do I have to own the home?
Yes, we can only work on a home you have the rights to make modifications to and plan to continue to live in.
Is there an application Fee?
No, the application process is free for anyone to fill out. Applications will be reviewed and selected on project criteria that is based on the vision and ability of SMART Community Development program to offer assistance.
Are your services free?
This is a great question. Most of our projects are paid for by our generous sponsors and contributions of supplies from local businesses. Some projects may require additional funding to complete due to specialized equiment or supplies to complete the project. Additional funding may be provided by additional contributions of supporters, fundraising by the recipient or sponsors, or paid for by the recipient directly.
